Ola's Founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, stated on Sunday that India possesses immense talent, positioning it to become a global frontrunner in artificial intelligence (AI), similar to China's dominance in manufacturing. In a post on X, he emphasized that this progress won't occur spontaneously; proactive efforts are essential.
India boasts the highest number of developers worldwide, along with a significant number of silicon designers and the largest IT services sector.
The Indian government has launched the India AI Mission with a budget of ₹10,372 crore, allocating ₹2,000 crore specifically to bolster the startup ecosystem in creating homegrown AI solutions. According to a recent IDC report, investment in AI and Generative AI (GenAI) in India is expected to hit $6 billion by 2027, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33.7%.
