India Boasts 284 Billionaires with a Staggering ₹98 Lakh Crore Wealth: Hurun Report

The 'Hurun Global Rich List for 2025' reports that the collective wealth of India's richest has increased by 10% in the last year. Mumbai remains the financial hub of the country, with 90 billionaires calling it home.

India's billionaire club has risen to 284, with their combined net worth hitting a whopping Rs 98 lakh crore, as per a newly published report on Thursday.

The 'Hurun Global Rich List for 2025' reports that the collective wealth of India's richest has increased by 10% in the last year. Mumbai remains the financial hub of the country, with 90 billionaires calling it home.

At the world level, India remains the third-largest center of billionaires, behind only the United States and China. The US is at the top of the rankings with a figure of 870 billionaires.

The report also shows that while 175 Indian billionaires saw their wealth go up, 109 saw either a reduction or no substantial change in their wealth.

Today, the net worth of a typical Indian billionaire is Rs 34,514 crore. Moreover, there are seven billionaires below the age of 40, with the majority of them belonging to Bengaluru and Mumbai.

Internationally, Tesla and SpaceX head Elon Musk saw the largest increase in wealth, adding another $189 billion in the last year. He again became the richest person in the world, for the fourth time in five years, as the first-ever person to cross the $400 billion threshold.

Amazon creator Jeff Bezos took second place with a net worth of $266 billion. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg joined the top three for the first time this year, thanks mainly to increasing investor optimism in Meta's strides in AI and tech.

There were also some of the world's best-known celebrities in this year's Hurun list, including entertainment, sports, and social media personalities. Music legends including Jay-Z, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Paul McCartney all made the list.

Amongst the sports division, all-time greats like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Floyd Mayweather, LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi entered the billionaires' club. Interestingly, only Kim Kardashian among the influencers managed to get her name into the global rankings.
