The couple, identified as businessman Pabba Chandrasekhar (51) and his wife Swapna (42), a homemaker, departed for Switzerland on June 22, according to their daughter, Shreya. She said they remained in contact with family members during the initial part of their trip but all communication ceased after July 8. Since then, repeated attempts to reach them have been unsuccessful, with both of their mobile phones either switched off or outside network coverage.
After several days without any contact, their 23-year-old daughter, a software professional, approached the police, who registered a missing persons case and began an investigation.
As part of the probe, investigators are checking the couple's travel plans, immigration records and financial transactions to establish their whereabouts and verify whether they entered Switzerland as stated.
Police are also looking into allegations that Chandrasekhar and Swapna collected nearly Rs 50 crore from more than 60 individuals over the past few years by promising attractive returns and citing a range of personal and business requirements.
No formal cheating case has been registered against the couple so far.
Officials said the investigation into the missing persons case is continuing and that all possible angles, including a voluntary disappearance and suspected financial fraud, are being examined.
The police have urged anyone with information about the couple's movements or whereabouts to come forward.
