German automotive group BMW achieved record sales of its luxury cars and motorcycles in India, reaching 22,940 units in 2023. The total sales comprised 14,172 units across the BMW and MINI brands, with an additional 8,768 units of motorcycles (BMW Motorrad) in the same period. The year 2023 witnessed a 19% increase in sales compared to 2022, where the company sold 19,263 units.
Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, highlighted the record-breaking achievement, noting that all three brands – BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad – achieved their highest-ever sales. The company maintained its leadership in the electric luxury car segment for the second consecutive year, with the BMW iX being the highest-selling luxury electric vehicle in India.
Pawah expressed confidence in the brand's sales momentum, anticipating a continuation in 2024. BMW plans to introduce 19 products throughout the year, including 13 cars (including two EVs) and six bikes. The lineup will feature various models, such as the 5 Series and X3.
Looking ahead, Pawah shared the company's goal of electric vehicles representing 25% of its overall sales by 2025. He mentioned plans to introduce EVs across multiple price points in the market. In 2023, BMW India sold 1,474 units of electric vehicles, marking a significant contribution to its overall sales.
