Mercedes-Benz has given the public a sneak peek of its new GLC EV, before the luxury SUV goes on official display at the Munich Motor Show on September 7.

While most of the car is still hidden from view, the teaser gives a glimpse of a new front grille design—introducing a new face for the brand's next-generation EVs.

Mercedes-Benz will introduce the newest design philosophy called Sensual Purity when it launches the GLC EV. Based on the teaser, the SUV will have a newly designed illuminated grille that features a pixelated LED structure.

The chrome-framed grille contains 942 backlit LED pixels in a matrix pattern. This design is an homage to the traditional Mercedes models like the 1902 Simplex, 600 Pullman, and W108. A second model with a non-illuminated grille in the form of smoky white plastic squares should also be made available.

Under the hood, the GLC EV will feature the same version of the brand's MBUX Hyperscreen as recently introduced on the EQS and EQE. Although the entire cabin configuration is not yet known, the new interface is expected to provide better fluidity in navigation, improved animations, and an improved user experience overall.

Under the skin, the electric GLC will be backed up by a powerful 94.5-kWh battery pack, fed by an 800V electrical system. The SUV will get the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and is predicted to make up to 483 horsepower, generating impressive performance as well as Mercedes' signature luxury.
