Punjab Polls: Kejriwal mocks Channi after Punjab CM decides to contest from two seats

The Congress party on Monday released the third list of eight candidates for the upcoming Punjab polls 2022. According to the list, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi will be contesting from two seats, Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur. Channi is the sitting MLA from Chamkaur Sahib and he has been representing this constituency since 2007. Taking a dig at Channi's decision to contest from two seats, Delhi CM Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his prediction of Channi losing from Chamkaur Sahib seat has come true.

Reacting to Channi's decision to contest from two seats, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his survey's prediction of Punjab CM losing from Chamkaur Sahib was perhaps true.

 The Congress party had earlier announced Channi's candidature from Chamkaur Sahib only. His candidature from the second seat was announced on Monday.

Taking a dig at Channi's decision to contest from two seats, Delhi CM Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his prediction of Channi losing from Chamkaur Sahib seat has come true.

 “I had said that according to our survey, Channi Ji is losing from Chamkaur Sahib. Today Congress has announced that it will contest from two seats. Does it mean that the survey is true?” Mr. Kejriwal tweeted soon after the announcement.

AAP has been targeting CM Channi ever since the ED raids were conducted on  the residences of Channi's nephew's and his friend over illegal sand mining charges.  During the ED raids, 10 crore rupees were recovered out of which 8 crore was recovered from his nephew's house.

Channi took over as Punjab CM after then chief minister Amarinder Singh resigned from his post due to battle with party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.

There is an ongoing rivalry between Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu at present for the chief ministerial face. The party is yet to announce the CM candidate for the upcoming polls.

Rahul Gandhi last week announced that the decision for the CM  face will be taken soon after consulting the workers of the party.  "Two people can’t lead, only one can," he had said.

Sidhu who is contesting from Amritsar East seat has told Rahul Gandhi that he will accept his decision on CM face.
