On Tuesday, the US Senate voted in favor of the bill with an astonishing 79 yays to 100 in the upper chamber. This was only a few days after the US House of Representatives, in unanimous bipartisan acclaim, approved the legislation on Saturday.

Zakharova criticized NATO's step. Such a move, she claimed, turns a neutral country into an active player in military operations, although it used to be one of the chief participants of discussions regarding stability and security. She underlined Russia's readiness to respond to what she described as "aggressive actions of the collective West."

It is a bipartisan vote––79-18––and shows that there is a bipartisan agreement and determination in taking on the world's toughest challenges.

The reference seemed to be aimed at China, famed for its repeated holds on proposals presented by India and its allies regarding such designations. Kamboj also underlined the need to address the opacity surrounding the Council's functioning and opined that consensus should be forged instead of blaming games.

In their conversation, Zelensky noted that they explored further strengthening their defense collaboration, with particular attention to maritime and extended range capabilities, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

Ruchira Kamboj, India’s Permanent Representative, emphasized the progress made on issues where the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has faltered, citing last year's G20 summit chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi as a prime example. Kamboj stressed the necessity of restructuring the permanent membership to align with contemporary realities, asserting that diplomacy and dialogue require an updated approach to address global challenges effectively.
