Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday presented to parliament his "victory plan", outlining Ukraine's strategy in its ongoing conflict with Russia, with the endgame envisaged just before the next year's anniversary of this invasion.
"If we begin implementing this Victory Plan now, we could end the war no later than the next year," Zelensky was quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency as saying.
The five-point plan contains geopolitical, military, economic, and security goals, but its "core element" is inviting Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in the "near future," Zelensky said.
Other proposals include lifting current restrictions that hinder Ukraine from using long-range Western weapons on targets inside Russia and placing a comprehensive non-nuclear strategic deterrence package in Ukraine, Zelensky said.
He added the document presents a vision for Ukraine cooperating and acting with its partners to protect, use, and invest in its vital resources, Xinhua news agency reported.
According to the plan, which also contains three classified annexes, Kyiv will replace US military contingents in Europe with Ukrainian units after the conflict is over.
