WHO Labels Al-Shifa Hospital a ‘Death Zone’

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) assert that Al-Shifa operates as a command center for Hamas, housing an underground tunnel network, a claim vehemently denied by hospital authorities and Gaza's Ministry of Health.

World Health Organization (WHO) representatives, following their inspection of Gaza's Al-Shifa hospital, have expressed grave concerns, deeming it a "death zone." Collaborating with UN agencies, they are actively engaged in the evacuation of patients from the facility. 

In contrast, the Israeli army insists on the evacuation of Hamas members allegedly present on the hospital grounds. Disturbingly, the IDF reports the recovery of two female hostages' bodies near Al-Shifa hospital, suggesting its utilization as a holding site for individuals abducted from Israel on October 7. The IDF claims to have discovered arms, ammunition, and military equipment within the hospital and neighboring structures.

The ongoing ground invasion, initiated on October 27 in response to the events of October 7, has resulted in a tragic toll, with over 12,000 Palestinians losing their lives, alongside casualties on both sides, including senior officers. The situation remains complex, with conflicting narratives surrounding the hospital's role in the conflict.
