On the sidelines of the AI Action Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US Vice President J.D. Vance, his Indian-origin wife, and their two young sons.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, was marked by warm exchanges, with PM Modi sharing moments with the Vance family, including celebrating the birthday of their younger son, Vivek.
Modi shared images of the meeting on X, writing, "Had a wonderful meeting with US VP J.D. Vance and his family. We had a great conversation on various subjects. Delighted to join them in celebrating the joyous birthday of their son, Vivek!"
Vance also expressed his gratitude on social media, praising Modi’s hospitality and mentioning the thoughtful gifts the Prime Minister gave to his children. "Prime Minister Modi was gracious and kind, and our kids really enjoyed the gifts. I'm grateful to him for the wonderful conversation," he wrote.
A video shared by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) showed Modi engaged in bilateral discussions with Vance while his wife, Usha, observed the conversation. This interaction followed Vance’s address at the summit, where he endorsed Modi’s positive stance on artificial intelligence.
"I appreciate PM Modi's point. AI will facilitate and make people more productive. It is not going to replace human beings; it will never replace human beings," Vance said during his speech.
Meeting with Estonian President Alar Karis
Following his discussions with Vance, PM Modi also met with Estonian President Alar Karis at the summit in Paris. The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties in trade, technology, and culture.
"Had a very productive meeting with the President of Estonia, Mr. Alar Karis, on the sidelines of the AI Action Summit in Paris. India's ties with Estonia have been growing remarkably over the years. We discussed ways to boost collaboration in areas like trade, technology, culture, and more," Modi posted on X, along with pictures from their meeting.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) later issued a statement highlighting Modi’s invitation to the Estonian government and businesses to explore investment opportunities in India, particularly in initiatives like Digital India.
