According to Politico, which quoted three people privy to the plans, Vance will be joined on the trip by Second Lady Usha Vance.

The trip marks Vance's second foreign trip since assuming office, following his diplomatic outreach in France and Germany last month.

For Usha Vance, the trip is significant on a personal level, as it will be her initial travel to India as the Second Lady. Her parents, Krish and Lakshmi Chilukuri, immigrated to the United States from India in the late 1970s.

Usha and J.D. Vance became acquainted with each other when they were both at Yale Law School. She is an accomplished litigator who has previously clerked for US Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Judge Brett Kavanaugh while he served on the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Her educational background involves a Yale University bachelor's degree and a University of Cambridge master's degree, for which she was a Gates Cambridge Scholar.
