The US welcomes any nation that is ready to try to help bring the conflict in Ukraine to an end, White House national security communications adviser John Kirby has said.
He made the comments after he was asked at a news conference on Wednesday about President Joe Biden's call to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the latter's visit to Ukraine, which came after his visit to Moscow, and if he thought India could play a role in bringing an end to the war.
Any country that's willing to try to help bring this war to a close, and do so in a way that is consistent with President Zelenskyy's prerogatives, the Ukrainian people's prerogatives, his plan for just peace, we certainly would welcome a role like that," Kirby said.
Well, we certainly hope so - said the White House official on if he thought India could play a role in bringing peace.
Among other things, Biden also praised Modi for the historic visits to Poland and Ukraine, for the first time in decades by an Indian Prime Minister, and his message of peace and ongoing humanitarian support including to Ukraine's energy sector.
