In a formal press release, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, "EAM's attendance at the G20 FMM will enhance India's interaction with G20 nations and enhance the voice of the Global South in this significant platform. EAM will have a couple of bilateral meetings in the periphery of the FMM."
South Africa assumed the G20 presidency on December 1, 2024, and will retain the role until November 2025. The overarching theme of its presidency this year is "Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability."
In a draft UN General Assembly resolution, seen by Reuters, the document firmly denounces Russian aggression and reiterates a pledge to "the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
One source, who spoke anonymously because the subject matter was sensitive, said Thursday, "In prior years, the United States has co-sponsored similar resolutions for a just peace in Ukraine every year."
