Ukraine Refutes Claims of Maryinka Loss to Russia Amidst Ongoing Tensions

Contrary to reports circulating in Russian media, Ukrainian military spokesperson Oleksandr Shtupun has denied that Russian forces have fully taken control of the town of Maryinka in the eastern Donetsk region.

Shtupun, who serves as the spokesperson for Ukraine's Tavria Defense Forces, stated, "Battles for Maryinka continue ... It is incorrect to talk about the complete capture of Maryinka," as reported by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

While Ukrainian military troops are still present within the administrative boundaries of Maryinka, the town has suffered extensive destruction, according to the spokesperson. The situation on the ground remains tense as conflicting reports emerge.

Maryinka, a small town with a pre-conflict population of around 9,500 people, is located approximately 30 km southwest of Donetsk.
