Ukraine Greenlights Cooperation Plan with NATO for 2024

In an effort to overhaul Ukraine's security and defense sector, the ministry has outlined a comprehensive roadmap comprising 50 measures aimed at achieving 17 objectives, as per a report by Xinhua news agency on Friday.

According to the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov has endorsed a plan for executing the adapted Annual National Program of Cooperation with NATO for the year 2024.

In an effort to overhaul Ukraine's security and defense sector, the ministry has outlined a comprehensive roadmap comprising 50 measures aimed at achieving 17 objectives, as per a report by Xinhua news agency on Friday.

Among the key components of the plan are the establishment of a collaborative NATO-Ukraine center for analysis, training, and education, the formulation of national documents aligned with NATO standards, and the finalization of the transformation of its command and control system in line with NATO principles and standards.

Prior to this, the Ukrainian Parliament had underscored closer ties with NATO as a pivotal agenda item for the country in the current year.

Ukraine attained recognition as NATO's Enhanced Opportunities Partner in 2020.

However, in September 2023, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg remarked that the alliance was not prepared to extend membership to Ukraine while the country's conflict with Russia remained active.
