Trump Administration to Host Military Parade on June 14

Information regarding the parade suggests that preparations are in full gear, with anticipation of having approximately 150 vehicles, 50 planes, and 6,600 troops, according to AFP, quoting U.S. Army spokeswoman Heather Hagan.

The White House said last week it is planning a June 14 military parade. "To mark the U.S. Army's 250th Birthday on June 14, President Trump will pay tribute to American Veterans, active-duty troops, and military history with a military parade!" spokeswoman Anna Kelly announced on Twitter Friday.

Information regarding the parade suggests that preparations are in full gear, with anticipation of having approximately 150 vehicles, 50 planes, and 6,600 troops, according to AFP, quoting U.S. Army spokeswoman Heather Hagan.

The parade will also host fireworks and a festival at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., according to Hagan.

The U.S. Army is celebrating its 250th birthday with a full week of celebration, according to planning documents.

To commemorate this milestone occasion, June 14 also coincidentally happens to be the 79th birthday of President Donald Trump.

Though Trump had suggested the concept of a military parade during his initial term, the plan was dropped over fears of the high cost of the parade and the destruction to the streets brought about by the heavy military machinery.

The most recent large-scale military parade in Washington, D.C. was in 1991 to celebrate the end of the Gulf War.
