On a fateful Saturday in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, tragedy struck as a lone attacker wreaked havoc, resulting in six fatalities from stabbing before being shot by the police. The chaos unfolded around 3:30 p.m. local time at Westfield in Bondi Junction, a bustling shopping hub in Sydney, prompting swift action from emergency services upon receiving reports of multiple stabbing incidents.
According to the New South Wales Police, an officer from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command was confronted by the assailant wielding a knife. In a tense confrontation, the attacker allegedly lunged at the officer, prompting the use of lethal force resulting in the attacker's demise.
Subsequent investigations confirmed the grim toll, with six individuals succumbing to their injuries inflicted by the assailant. Reports from local media indicated that an additional seven individuals sustained critical injuries in the rampage.
