In the statement, Biden added, "I have been briefed by my team regarding what federal law enforcement is investigating as a possible assassination attempt of former President Trump today. There is a suspect in custody, and I commend the work of the Secret Service and their law enforcement partners for their vigilance and efforts to keep the former President and those around him safe. I am relieved that the former President is unharmed. There is an active investigation into this incident as law enforcement gathers more details about what happened."

U.S. media reports that the man accused of trying to murder former President Donald Trump when he was golfing in Florida over the weekend was 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. A Hawaii resident who used to work as a construction worker in North Carolina and had tried to recruit fighters for Ukraine, Routh is now under arrest. The FBI is treating the event as an "attempted assassination".

The FBI has moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where it is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump, the agency said in a statement.

Here, officers discovered the scene with an AK-47 style rifle, two backpacks full of ceramic tiles, and an abandoned GoPro camera. This is the second attempt to assassinate Trump within two months and the first one which was done on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. In that earlier assassination attempt, it targeted Trump with a hit in the right ear. There was just one shooter who died as he succumbed to fire from a law enforcement sniper.
