Romania has inaugurated the European F-16 Training Center (EFTC), a pivotal institution where Ukrainian pilots will undergo comprehensive training to operate F-16 fighter jets. Nestled at the airbase in Fetesti, situated in southeastern Romania, the EFTC is poised to emerge as a global training hub specifically designed for F-16 jet pilots, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
This state-of-the-art facility is geared towards delivering top-notch training to F-16 pilots hailing from Romania and its allied nations, with a notable inclusion being Ukraine. The training program for Ukrainian pilots is anticipated to span approximately six months, signifying a substantial commitment to skill development and operational proficiency.
In a collaborative effort, the Netherlands is slated to contribute between 12 and 18 F-16 aircraft to fortify the resources at the EFTC facility. This strategic partnership underscores the cooperative nature of the initiative and enhances the center's capabilities to facilitate extensive and advanced training.
The commencement of simulator training for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 jets in August marked a significant step in the preparation process, emphasizing the dedication to ensuring that pilots are well-versed in handling the intricacies of these advanced fighter aircraft.
