Quad agrees to leverage machine learning, advanced technologies to enhance cyber security: White House

The Quad Senior Cyber Group, consisting of officials from Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, met in New Delhi on January 30-31 to reinforce their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific that is both inclusive and resilient, it added.  The officials agreed to leverage machine learning and other advanced technologies in order to enhance cyber security.

The Quad Senior Cyber Group, consisting of officials from Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, met in New Delhi on January 30-31 to reinforce their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific that is both inclusive and resilient, it added.

The officials agreed to leverage machine learning and other advanced technologies in order to enhance cyber security, create secure channels for computer emergency response teams and private sector threat information sharing, and establish a framework for ensuring supply chain security in the information communication and operational technology systems of critical sectors.

The White House released a statement saying that the progress on these objectives will enhance the national cyber capabilities of Quad members, reduce the occurrence of serious cyber incidents, and improve their response capacities. With the use of machine learning in research, the group hopes to better detect network intrusions and manage cyber risks in critical infrastructure. 

The framework for secure threat information sharing will allow for real-time cooperation and assessments during cyber incidents. The supply chain methodology will encourage software services and providers used by governments to adhere to best practice guidelines for cyber security in ICT and OT systems for critical infrastructure.

In addition, the group is committed to incorporating security-by-design and best practices in cyber security in ORAN and 6G technologies, as well as promoting safe, resilient networks and technologies through trusted vendors in telecom infrastructure and exploration of open and interoperable network solutions.

The Quad Cyber Challenge Campaign will be launched as part of the group's efforts to raise awareness and improve cyber security among individuals, organizations, businesses, and governments throughout the members. The group is also committed to providing educational resources to increase the cyber security of their citizens.
