India ranks 2nd in total number of breaches exposed in 2022
About 1,335 breach data incidents were publicly disclosed between November 2021 and October 2022. Of the 1,335 breaches analysed globally, 143 breaches occurred in Asia Pacific and Japan, resulting in a whopping 68 per cent of total records exposed globally, according to the report by Exposure Management Company Tenable.
Most CISOs to change jobs due to growing stress from hacking threats
The cybersecurity personnel are facing acute stress as nation-state bad actors continue to infiltrate government and enterprise systems with sophisticated malware. "Cybersecurity professionals are facing unsustainable levels of stress. CISOs are on the defence, with the only possible outcomes that they don't get hacked or they do," said Deepti Gopal, Director Analyst, Gartner.
Sensitive US military emails spilled online via exposed server
According to a TechCrunch report, security researcher Anurag Sen found the exposed server that "was hosted on Microsoft's Azure government cloud for Department of Defense customers". The US government was alerted about the exposed government cloud email server that was connected to the Internet without a password.

Homegrown social media app Slick exposed users' data, including kids
According to TechCrunch, an internal Slick database with full names, mobile numbers, dates of birth, and profile pictures of users was "left exposed online without a password." The internal database contained entries of over 153,000 Slick users. The Bengaluru-based app allows school and college students to connect and talk about their friends anonymously.
Top US cybersecurity diplomat's Twitter account hacked
In a tweet, Fick said that "My account has been hacked. Perils of the job." It was not clear who was responsible for the hack or if cyber-criminals posted anything derogatory from his personal account. According to a CNN report, US President Joe Biden in June announced to nominate Fick to lead the newly-formed Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy.
CEO impersonation fraud threatening IT firms: Report
CloudSEK analysts found a spear phishing campaign targeting multiple corporations wherein a specific form of a message purportedly coming from superiors or CEOs may actually be a fraud. In these messages, the threat actor pretends to be the company's CEO and sends a WhatsApp message to employees (mostly top-level executives) on their personal phone numbers.
