Prachanda States Nepal's Opposition to Taiwan's Independence, Describes China as a 'Reliable Friend'

Prachanda recalled Nepal's departure from the 'One China Policy' to the 'One China Principle' during his visit to China in September last year.

Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as "Prachanda," reiterated Nepal's position against Taiwan's independence during the Chinese New Year celebrations. He affirmed Nepal's recognition of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government representing the entirety of China and emphasized that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.

Prachanda recalled Nepal's departure from the 'One China Policy' to the 'One China Principle' during his visit to China in September last year. Nepal's stance against Taiwan's independence has evolved, and Prachanda stated, "We are committed not to allowing any activities in our nation that are inimical to the interest of China. We oppose external interference in the internal affairs of a country."

The Prime Minister emphasized the strong and unshakable commitment to the 'One China Principle' and highlighted the close and trusting relationship between Nepal and China. He stated that the change in domestic and external situations has not influenced Nepal's principled position, and the commitment to the 'One China Principle' remains steadfast.

Nepal and China share a relationship based on peaceful coexistence and the Panchsheel principles. Prachanda expressed confidence that the connection between the two countries would continue to strengthen in the coming days, emphasizing their shared commitment to promoting a more just and reasonable international order.
