In Singapore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his counterpart Lawrence Wong on Thursday. The countries signed four MoUs later.
Modi is on a two-day visit to Singapore at the invitation of Wong. The prime minister received a red-carpet welcome at Singapore Parliament House, where he also signed the visitor's book ahead of the talks with his counterpart.
The meeting between the two heads of state comes shortly after Wong took office and Modi began a third term as Prime Minister. The two Heads of State oversaw the exchange of four MoUs after their discussions.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi will call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. He is also scheduled to meet with Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. Lee will host a lunch for Modi.
Modi will interact with Singaporean business leaders as well as those associated with its semiconductor ecosystem. A visit to a semiconductor manufacturing facility will be undertaken by Modi and Wong.
After completing his first bilateral visit as the Indian prime minister to Brunei, Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday. The Indian community there, bound together by a common constitution, gave Modi a warm welcome on arrival.
