'US command believes Kim has not imagined nuclear-free N.Korea

From December 23 to December 29 last year, daily deaths stood at: 3, 0, 1, 0, 0, 2, and 4 -- for a weekly total of 10. Deaths over the same week this year were: 315, 339, 306, 217, 271, 415 and 420 -- for a total of 2,283, based on data released by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
Russia attacks Ukraine with 16 Iran-made drones: Kiev officials

Ukrainian military said that all of Friday's drones were destroyed, the BBC reported. In Kiev, an air alert was announced after 2 a.m. on Friday and residents were urged to take shelter. Five of the drones were shot down in the air and two "on approach", the BBC quoted Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko as saying. No-one was reported injured in Kiev, but windows in two buildings were damaged, Klitschko added.

Recombinants of the BA.2 variant, XBB and XBB.1.5 together accounted for 44.1 per cent of the total cases in the country in the week ending December 31, CDC data showed. The XBB variant has been driving up cases in parts of Asia, drawing concerns for its high infectiousness.
