The PTI says that Dogar's comments have created a "wrong perception" politically. But perceptions are being fanned by jubilant PTI's supporters who are claiming that this was the "unprecedented" victory of the civilian government led by Imran Khan over Pakistan's all-powerful military establishment, headed by General Qamar Javed Bajwa. At the same time Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry cautiously played down the issue claiming that "PM Imran Khan will never undermine the respect of the Pakistan Army and the Army Chief".
India, US to reinvigorate action against terrorism-financing, money laundering

"We continue to strengthen our cooperation in tackling money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism through increased information sharing and coordination," they said in a joint statement after the Eighth US-India Economic and Financial Partnership (USIEFP) meeting on Thursday in Washington, which was also attended by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das.
US returns to UN Human Rights Council

In a vote at the UN General Assembly on Thursday, the US was elected along with 17 other countries for a three-year term beginning on January 1, 2022, reports Xinhua news agency. The US won 168 of the 193 votes. In the same regional group, Finland and Luxembourg won 180 votes respectively. The US under the Trump administration withdrew from the Geneva-based Human Rights Council in June 2018, accusing the council of being a "hypocritical and self-serving organisation" and biased against Israel. The US' seat was later taken by Iceland in a by-election.
US awaits N.Korean response to dialogue proposals

Addressing reporters in Washington Thursday, Department spokesman Ned Price also stressed that the US remains actively engaged in diplomacy with its allies to discuss ways to enhance their collective security, reports Yonhap News Agency. "We do stand prepared to meet with the DPRK without preconditions. We have made, in fact, specific proposals to the DPRK and we will await a response. We will await outreach from the DPRK." Taliban welcomes Turkey's proposal for visits by FMs to Afghanistan

Calling the proposal "important", Zabihullah Mujahid, the Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, said a summit comprising the Foreign Ministers in Kabul "will pave the ground for resolving the current political challenges", TOLO News reported. "In total it is a better step, and we praise it and we will welcome them (diplomats)... And this can kind of resolve the political problems that we have with foreign countries."
