Colin Powell, first black US Secretary of State, dies of Covid-19

Powell, a moderate Republican and a pragmatist,  served as secretary of state under President George W. Bush. He was the first-ever black Secretary of State in the US and was a war veteran who saw his legacy tarnished after he made a case in Iraq back in 2003.
Russian fighter escorts US bomber above Sea of Japan

Russian radars on Sunday detected an air target approaching the Russian border over the Sea of Japan, and a MiG-31 fighter from Russia's Eastern Military District took off in response, Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry as saying. The Russian crew identified the air target as a US Air Force B-1B strategic bomber, before escorting it away.
UK records more than 40,000 Covid cases for fifth day in a row

The country also reported a further 57 coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 138,584. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test. There are currently 7,086 patients in hospital with Covid-19. It brought the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 8,449,165, Xinhua news agency reported.
International air force drill begins in Israel

The annual exercise is taking place at the Ovda Air Force Base in southern Israel, with the participation of air forces from the United States, Germany, Italy, Britain, France, India and Greece, Xinhua news agency quoted an Israeli military spokesperson as saying. The exercise kicked started on Sunday with an honorary flyover, led by the Commander of the Israeli Air Force Amikam Norkin in an F-15, alongside an Israeli "Adir", the Israeli version of F-35 stealth jet.
