A candle factory in Kentucky has been completely destroyed, Xinhua news agency quoted the local media as saying on Saturday. "There were about 110 people in it (candle factory) at the time that the tornado hit it," Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said. "We believe our death toll from this event will exceed 50 Kentuckians and probably end up 70 to 100." Beshear has declared a state of emergency in the area.

Omicron variant arrived in US earlier than first thought
California had reported what was believed to be the first confirmed case on December 1. But the CDC on Friday said the first-known case of Omicron in the US was found in a person who had travelled internationally and started presenting symptoms on November 15, CNBC reported. An international traveller returned to San Francisco from South Africa on November 22, developed symptoms three days later and tested positive on November 29.
