EU may introduce insurance ban for ships carrying Russian oil: Ukraine

This ban is one of the most serious financial instruments of the EU's influence that the bloc has at its disposal to harm the Russian economy. Pakistan government shocks consumers with unprecedented hike in cooking oil and ghee prices

An official in the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) in Karachi confirmed to Dawn that the USC had issued a notification of this whopping jump in ghee and cooking oil rates effective June 1. The official, however, did not comment as to why the rates had been jacked up so mercilessly which would hit the consumers badly. The maximum rate of ghee and cooking of renowned brands in the retail markets still hovers between Rs 540-560 per kg/litre.
Ukraine losing 60-100 per day: President Zelensky

US to send medium-range rocket systems to Ukraine

A $700-million weapon package to be formally unveiled on Wednesday, including High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), which are to enable Ukraine to fire more precisely at targets in its eastern part, the officials were quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Ukrainian officials had offered assurances that the HIMARS would not be used to strike targets inside the Russian territory.

New Omicron subvariant makes up 60% of new US Covid-19 cases

The new subvariant, known as BA.2.12.1, spreads more rapidly than previous versions of Omicron, Xinhua news agency reported. It only made up about 3.4 per cent of new Covid-19 cases in the country in late March. The data increased to 31.8 per cent at the end of April, and 59.1 per cent the end of May, CDC data showed on Tuesday.
Imran Khan more dangerous than terrorists: Maryam Nawaz
