Ukraine confirms fall of Lysychansk city to Russia
Lysychansk's fall came a week after its twin city Severodonetsk was captured by the Russian forces on June 25. Capture of the two cities means Russia now controls nearly all of Luhansk region and much of neighbouring Donetsk, the two Russian-backed separatist regions that form the industrial Donbas. Lysychansk and Severodonetsk were the last remaining Ukrainian positions in Luhansk.
Time, venue of new round of nuclear talks being finalised: Iranian negotiator

Tibetan monk frequently jailed for protests against Chinese rule dies
Jigme Gyatso, a monk at the Labrang Monastery also called Jigme Goril, died Saturday at home in the Kanlho Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, a former student said. "During his imprisonment, he has been subjected to severe beatings due to which he has been admitted in hospital for a long time without any sign of improvement," the former student now living in exile told RFA Tibetan. No cause of death has been given, but sources said he had been in poor health since his release from prison in 2016.
3 dead in Copenhagen shopping mall shooting
"A man in his 40s and two teenagers were killed" in the shooting at Field's Shopping Center located in the Amager district, Copenhagen Chief Police Inspector Soren Thomassen said at a press conference on Monday. At around 5.35 p.m. on Sunday evening, police received a call regarding the incident, according to Thomassen. At 5.48 p.m.
US watching China very closely on Taiwan, says Gen Milley
China is clearly developing the capability to attack at some point, but deciding to do so would be a political choice, Gen Mark Milley told the BBC. China says Taiwan is a breakaway province that must be re-unified with the mainland, by force if necessary. It has accused the US of supporting Taiwan's independence, and vowed to "resolutely crush" any such attempt.
Russia claims control on Lysychansk, Ukraine denies
Russia on Sunday said that its troops along with separatist forces have taken "full control" of the eastern Ukrainian city of Lysychansk, a claim that has been refuted by the Ukrainian side. "Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin on the 'liberation' of the Lugansk (Luhansk) People's Republic (LPR)," the Russian Defence Ministry announced on Sunday.

Russia plans to annex Kherson region by autumn: UK intel
"Russian-backed officials have said they will hold a referendum on Kherson Oblast joining the Russian Federation by autumn 2022. Russia is likely prioritizing a pseudo-constitutional vote in an attempt to legitimize its control of the region," the ministry was quoted as saying by Ukrinform news agency. According to the update, despite the arrest of Kherson Mayor Ihor Kolykhaiev on June 28, 2022, "widespread armed and peaceful resistance continues across occupied areas".
Virgin Orbit launches 7 satellites in first night mission
The launch, named Straight Up, began at 10:50 p.m. local time on July 1 (8:20 am IST), and concluded with the successful deployment of all seven payloads at approximately 12:55 a.m. Pacific (1:25 pm IST) on July 2, the company said in a statement. Virgin Orbit's fully mobile LauncherOne system conducted its first ever evening flight from a bare concrete pad and a runway at the Mojave Air and Space Port in California.
