The military's media wing, in its statement, shared that the institution is "aghast at the defamatory and uncalled for statements about the senior leadership of Pakistan Army" by Imran Khan. "Regrettably, an attempt has been made to discredit and undermine senior leadership of [the] Pakistan Army at a time when the institution is laying lives for the security and safety of the people of Pakistan every day," the statement read., The News reported.

Liz Truss is expected to make long-term ally Kwasi Kwarteng chancellor, with Suella Braverman moving to the Home Office and James Cleverly to the Foreign Office, the Daily Mail reported. If selected, Kwarteng would be the fourth non-white chancellor in a row, directly following Sajid Javid, Rishi Sunak and Nadhim Zahawi. And Braverman would become the third minority home secretary, after Priti Patel and Javid.

According to the latest National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) update, 24 people were killed in the last 24 hours, which increased the Pakistan's overall toll in the deadly deluge triggered by the incessant rain since mid-June, reports Xinhua news agency. The update also said that 115 people were also injured in the same time period, which increased the cumulative number to 12,703.

Iran to consider 'other options' if West delays nuclear agreement: Lawmaker

Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini, a member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told the official IRNA news agency on Sunday that a win-win agreement is important for securing Iran's national interests. "The Westerners need negotiations more than Iran ... if the Western side does not make an agreement, we have other options on the table, and Iran's hands are not empty in this regard," he noted.
