Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar echoed Sharif’s sentiments, labeling Khan’s action as highly irresponsible. Kakar emphasized the significance of ongoing negotiations with the IMF for a crucial USD 6 billion agreement, essential for Pakistan’s economic recovery.

Khan’s letter to the IMF urged the global lender to scrutinize the recent election results, alleging electoral fraud and intervention. Khan warned against obtaining loans amidst such uncertainty, emphasizing the importance of political stability and investment to alleviate the country’s financial burdens.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif has nominated his brother Shehbaz Sharif for the post of Prime Minister, forming a coalition government with Bilawal Zardari-Bhutto-led Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
