"Elon launching a 3rd party is very similar to Tesla & SpaceX. Slim chance of success, but if it happens it'll absolutely change the game," wrote the post on X, previously Twitter. Musk replied positively, indicating that he is seriously contemplating the proposal.

The SpaceX and Tesla CEO had previously toyed with the idea of a new political entity on X. On Independence Day, he made a poll for followers to determine if it was time to free themselves from the two-party system—Democrats and Republicans.

"Independence Day is the best time to inquire as to whether you desire independence from the two-party (or some would say uniparty) system! Should we form the America Party?" Musk queried in the post, triggering universal discussion and activity online.

There was discussion of Musk creating a third party after there was a reported rift with President Trump over the administration's flagship legislation, the "One Big Beautiful Bill." The broad tax and spending bill won bipartisan passage in Congress on Thursday.

President Trump will officially sign the bill into law in a lavish Independence Day celebration at the White House on Friday at 4:00 pm (2000 GMT). The event will feature a fireworks show and an aerial display of the same type of stealth bomber employed in a recent attack on Iran. Invited to the event, as the President has announced, are some of those pilots who carried out the mission, according to the President.

The bill, which vastly increases funding for Trump's aggressive immigration enforcement agenda, is another huge domestic and international win for the 79-year-old strongman. It also reaffirms Trump's dominating control of both the Republican Party and the wider American political scene—at least temporarily.
