Tesla CEO and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on Tuesday that he would serve the country after US presidential candidate Donald Trump announced that he would consider the tech billionaire for a Cabinet role or some advisory post if he wins in the election in November.
Musk posted "I am willing to serve" the country on X social media platform after Trump reportedly said he would welcome the billionaire to become part of the US administration once he is elected.
Though in jest, the tech billionaire even agreed to head a "Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE)" in the new US government under Trump.
"That's a great name," he responded to one user who suggested the name of the ministry for Musk, who has been supporting Trump on his social media platform.
During an audio interview on X last week, Trump and Musk discussed a spate of issues, ranging from immigration to the economy, education, climate, Russia, and Ukraine to North Korea's Kim Jong-un, Russia's Vladimir Putin, and China's Xi Jinping against the backdrop of the 2024 presidential election.
Musk even tried to lecture climate change denier Trump on greenhouse gas danger and renewable energy. Not long after, venture capitalist Vinod Khosla took a shot at Elon Musk over the latter's climate-talk tutorial, calling his ideas about CO2 ppm levels and their effects just plain "dumb.".
The owner of X took to the tarmac to endorse the former president against his Democrat rival for Vice President Kamala Harris. While talking about the assassination attempt on him, Trump said that illegal immigration saved his life at an election rally. Delayed was the interview broadcast by a cyber attack.
The former president was permanently suspended back in January 2021, while the social media platform bore the name Twitter. The ban was lifted by Musk after he acquired the platform.
