Maldives President Issues Fresh Critique at India: 'No License to Bully...'

He also emphasized that the Indian Ocean doesn't belong to any specific country and claimed that Maldives has one of the largest shares due to its extensive Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

The diplomatic tension between Maldives and India continues as Maldives President Mohamad Muizzu, fresh from his China visit, made indirect accusations against India, accusing it of "bullying" the "small" nation. In a press conference upon his return from China, Muizzu stated, "We may be small but this doesn't give them the license to bully us," as per a viral video.

He also emphasized that the Indian Ocean doesn't belong to any specific country and claimed that Maldives has one of the largest shares due to its extensive Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

President Muizzu's remarks come in the aftermath of strained relations following derogatory comments made by three Maldivian ministers against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his visit to Lakshadweep. While the three ministers were dismissed, the incident led to tensions, with various Indian celebrities and companies urging people to avoid visiting the Maldives and taking other measures to discourage Indians from traveling to the Indian Ocean archipelago.
