According to organizers, US Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to host her first rally with her yet-to-be-named vice presidential candidate in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 6. Those in the running for the vice presidency are Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
After the Philadelphia event, Harris and her would-be running mate are expected to visit six other battleground states next week. They will stop in western Wisconsin, Detroit, Raleigh in North Carolina, Savannah in Georgia, Phoenix, and Las Vegas.
The vice-presidential field is thinning. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper told local reporters Thursday that he's no longer in the mix for VP. Hours later, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer made a similar announcement.
