Joe Biden ambiguous on China, promises to tackle challenges posed by Beijing but ready to work with them in US interest

The Biden administration believes that once the US establishes its position of strength, it will be able to compete more effectively with its competitors across the board and especially with China in every domain, including economic, diplomatic, technological and security.

President Joe Biden on Thursday sent vague signals on his administration's dealings with China. While Biden promised to tackle challenges posed by Beijing, he expressed his readiness to work with the communist regime if it's in the interest of the US.

Biden said the United States will confront china’s economic abuses, its aggressiveness and the challenges being posed by China directly, but will not hesitate in joining hands with Beijing when it is in America's interest.

"We will confront China's economic abuses, counter its aggressive, coercive action to push back on China's attack on human rights, intellectual property and global governance, but we are ready to work with Beijing when it is in America's interest to do so. " Biden said in his address to State Department employees at its headquarters in Washington.

"We will be able to counter Russia more effectively and we will be better equipped to address threats from climate change, to pandemics, to nuclear proliferation. We will also be able to more effectively pursue a foreign policy for the middle class. This is not just a tagline, it is an organising principle for the work that we will do," Biden said.

In a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Senator Rick Scott claimed that united states faces increasingly frequent and dangerous threats from adversaries across the globe -- namely communist China, Iran, Russia and North Korea -- there has never been a more important time to ensure that our men and women in uniform have every resource they need to stand strong and combat threats to our freedoms and interests.

He alleged The Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) policy of genocide against the Uyghurs, theft of American technology and dangerous actions to build its military presence and threaten the security of the United States and its allies cannot be tolerated.

'America Is Back': Biden says US will repair alliances, engage with world

The US President assured that his administration will repair the relationship with allies and engage with the world once again. Biden further said that he has come to the building to send a clear message to the world: America is back. America is back. Diplomacy is back.

"We will repair our alliances and engage with the world once again, not to meet yesterday's challenges, but today's and tomorrow's. American leadership must meet this new moment of advancing authoritarianism, including the growing ambitions of China to rival the United States and the determination of Russia to damage and disrupt our democracy," Biden said.

Biden highlighted that American values had come under intense pressure in recent years but assured that American people are going to emerge from this moment as stronger, more determined and better equipped to unite the world in fighting to defend democracy.

Over the past two weeks, American President had talks with the leaders of -- Canada, Mexico, the UK, Germany, France, NATO, Japan, South Korea, Australia -- to begin reforming the habits of cooperation and rebuilding the muscle of democratic alliances that have atrophied over the past few years of neglect.

America's alliances, he asserted are its greatest asset and leading with diplomacy means standing shoulder-to-shoulder with US allies and key partners once again.

On day one of his presidency, Biden said, he signed the paperwork to rejoin the Paris Agreement on climate change.

"America must lead in the face of this existential threat. And just as with the pandemic, it requires global cooperation. We have also re-engaged with the World Health Organization. That way, we can build better global preparedness to counter COVID-19, as well as detect and prevent future pandemics, because there will be more," he said.

Biden administration is also taking necessary diplomatic steps to end war in Yemen-- a war which has created a humanitarian and strategic catastrophe. The Govt is trying ensure support for the united nation led initiative to impose a ceasefire, open humanitarian channels and restore long-dormant peace talks.
