Japan PM Kishida Set to Replace Top Spokesperson Matsuno Amid Funds Scandal

Following a fund scandal within Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is reportedly set to replace Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno, as per local media reports on Saturday.

Multiple sources from the government and the ruling party disclosed this decision to Jiji press on the same day.

Matsuno faces accusations of failing to report over 10 million yen (approximately $70,000) in income collected by his faction, according to Xinhua news agency.

In a press conference held on Friday, Matsuno affirmed that he has no intention of resigning and stated that his faction is actively investigating the facts surrounding the allegations.
