Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Warns ICC Warrant Application Risks Undermining Court's Credibility

"As the Prime Minister of Israel, I reject with disgust the prosecutor's comparison between democratic Israel and the mass murderers of Hamas. This is a complete distortion of reality,” Netanyahu expressed on Monday.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sharply criticized a recent move by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to seek arrest warrants against Israeli leaders as a disgrace to the reputation of the court.

"As the Prime Minister of Israel, I reject with disgust the prosecutor's comparison between democratic Israel and the mass murderers of Hamas. This is a complete distortion of reality,” Netanyahu expressed on Monday.

In a video message shared on X platform, Netanyahu further emphasized, “The outrageous decision by the ICC prosecutor, Karim Khan, to seek arrest warrants against the democratically-elected leaders of Israel is a moral outrage of historic proportions. It will leave an indelible stain on the world court."

Netanyahu again restated the position taken by Israel, saying that its conflict with Hamas was against a "genocidal terrorist organisation".

He strongly dismissed the comparison between Hamas and Israeli leadership as twisted and baseless.

Stating the request for the arrest warrant as a travesty of justice and an insult, Netanyahu said, "This is an unfair attempt to deny Israel its basic right of self-defense, and it will ultimately fail."

Terming that it heightened anti-Semitic feelings, Netanyahu rebuked the abuse of powers, stating that ICC will go to such an extent to be degraded to merely a travesty.

The statements of the Israeli Prime Minister explain that the situation is grim, as Israel is intensely defending its actions against Hamas and is not ready to stomach the ICC's verdict.
