Israel Defense Forces raided the office of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar in Khan Younis

The IDF's 98th Division carried out the operation, targeting Sinwar, who is currently one of the most wanted figures within the Hamas leadership. Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, had previously declared the intention to locate Sinwar's hideout and eliminate him.

In a statement released on Monday night, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced a successful raid on the office of the prominent Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, located in southern Gaza's Khan Younis area.

The IDF's 98th Division carried out the operation, targeting Sinwar, who is currently one of the most wanted figures within the Hamas leadership. Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, had previously declared the intention to locate Sinwar's hideout and eliminate him.

Multiple raids were conducted by the Israeli military in the Khan Younis area, targeting various terror infrastructures, including an intelligence network associated with the banned organization, Hamas. The IDF specified that one of the offices raided functioned as the Hamas' intelligence office.

Israel has consistently held Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif, another Hamas leader, accountable for the October 7 massacre in southern Israel, resulting in the tragic death of approximately 1,200 people, predominantly civilians. Additionally, around 250 individuals were abducted from communities and held hostage in Gaza.

During a one-week ceasefire between November 24 and December 1, 105 hostages were released, and 324 Palestinian prisoners were freed from Israeli jails. The IDF, along with Israel's military intelligence, confirmed that out of the remaining hostages, 28 lost their lives, with three being unintentionally killed by the IDF.
