Israel Conveys Concerns at UN Security Council: Iran's Role in Uniting Elements of Destruction in the Middle East

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council focused on the Houthi threat in the Red Sea, Erdan addressed the recent series of attacks by the Houthis against ships in the region, a meeting initiated by the United States.

The Ambassador of Israel to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, asserted that the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by the Ayatollah, is the central force connecting all elements of destruction in the Middle East. Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council focused on the Houthi threat in the Red Sea, Erdan addressed the recent series of attacks by the Houthis against ships in the region, a meeting initiated by the United States.

Erdan emphasized that the attacks on maritime trade by the Houthis are not isolated incidents but a glimpse into a potentially chaotic future for the region and the entire globe if decisive action is not taken. He stated, "This is just the beginning of a chaotic Middle East that will drag the rest of the world into chaos."

Highlighting the global significance of the issue, Erdan pointed out that the complete closure of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a potential outcome if the situation escalates, would cost the global economy over $6 billion per day. He urged the UN Security Council to enforce sanctions against the Houthi group and those who provide them with arms and funding.

Erdan stressed that the Houthis, recognized by the UN Security Council as a terror group, are enabled by Iranian support. He called for addressing the "Ayatollah regime" as the root cause, stating, "The Ayatollah’s strategy is to stand in the shadows, while pulling the strings of their terror-proxy puppets."

In a passionate plea, Erdan urged the world to expose the connections between Iran and the Houthi terrorists, emphasizing that Iranian arms and intelligence enable their capabilities. He concluded by stating, "This can be the Council’s shining moment, the moment it tackles the real threat to the Middle East."
