Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi reiterated on Monday that Tehran will not enter nuclear talks under pressure or coercion.
In reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump's repeated calls for talks on Iran's nuclear program, Araghchi used the social media site X to make a statement on behalf of Tehran. He said, "We will not negotiate under pressure and intimidation," highlighting Washington's military threats and economic sanctions against Iran.
We will not even think about it (negotiation), regardless of what the topic is. Negotiation is not bullying and issuing diktats," he continued.
The minister once again stressed that Iran's nuclear energy program has always been and will continue to be purely peaceful, dismissing accusations of any possible militarization.
Araghchi also underscored Iran's ongoing talks with world powers, saying that the dialogue is held "on an equal footing and with mutual respect." He said Tehran wants to promote confidence and transparency about its nuclear program, on condition that "unlawful" sanctions be removed.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump, in a Fox Business Network interview on Friday, said he was ready to negotiate a new nuclear accord with Iran. He asserted that he had written a letter to the nation's leaders, reported the Xinhua news agency.
But speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei rejected any information about such communication, saying that Iran had not received any letter from the U.S. administration.
