India would give Rs 2,371 million to Sri Lanka for 33 development projects in education, health and agriculture sectors of the eastern province, a top official announced here on Tuesday.
The cabinet has sanctioned a proposal to sign a memorandum of understanding to improve socio-economic development and bilateral cooperation between the two nations, said the cabinet media coordinator and the Health Minister Nalinda Jayathissa at a media briefing held here.
Under the deal, India will contribute Rs 315 million towards education, Rs 780 million towards health and Rs 620 million towards agriculture.
These projects are part of many others, which are geared towards infrastructure development, economic growth and empowerment of the local population.
