On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the alleged neutralization of Saleh al-Arouri, the deputy leader of Hamas, in Lebanon.
Although an official statement from the IDF is pending, Hamas has confirmed the assassination. Izzat al-Rishq, a senior Hamas official, asserted, "The cowardly assassinations carried out by the Zionist occupation against the leaders and symbols of our Palestinian people inside and outside Palestine will not succeed in breaking the will and steadfastness of our people or in undermining the continuation of their resistance."
Al-Rishq further contended that the strike "proves once again the abject failure of the enemy to achieve any of its aggressive goals in the Gaza Strip."
While Israel has not provided an official statement on the incident, former diplomat Danny Danon, an Israeli politician, commended Israeli security forces for the killing of Saleh al-Arouri outside Beirut via a social media post.
It's noteworthy that prominent Israeli figures, including Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, have consistently expressed the intention to eliminate all top leaders of Hamas. The IDF's action reflects the ongoing tension between the two entities.
