Hamas Reports Over 100 Casualties in Gaza from Israeli Airstrikes Since Truce Expired

This alarming development unfolded mere hours after the expiration of a seven-day ceasefire between the two conflicting parties on Friday morning.

The Health Ministry under the control of Hamas in Gaza has reported a grim escalation in the Palestinian casualty count, asserting that the toll has now exceeded 100 following Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

This alarming development unfolded mere hours after the expiration of a seven-day ceasefire between the two conflicting parties on Friday morning.

In a press release, Ashraf al-Qedra, the spokesperson for the Ministry, conveyed that "approximately 109 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, fell victim to the Israeli airstrikes in the Strip," as outlined by the Xinhua news agency. Among the casualties, al-Qedra highlighted that two Palestinian journalists were also included.

It is noteworthy that a humanitarian truce had been brokered between Israel and Hamas on November 24. However, the fragile peace shattered on Friday morning when hostilities reignited. Israel accused Hamas of breaching the ceasefire agreement by launching attacks on Israeli territory, leading to a resumption of the conflict.
