Global Covid-19 caseload tops 163.9mn

In its latest update on Wednesday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 163,946,965 and 3,399,045, respectively. The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 32,996,565 and 587,199, respectively, according to the CSSE.

The overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 163.9 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.39 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 25,228,996 cases.

The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (15,732,836), France (5,959,593), Turkey (5,139,485), Russia (4,900,995), the UK (4,466,218), Italy (4,167,025), Spain (3,619,848), Germany (3,615,896), Argentina (3,371,508) and Colombia (3,144,547), the CSSE figures showed.

In terms of deaths, Brazil comes second with 439,050 fatalities.

Nations with a death toll of over 100,000 are India (278,719), Mexico (220,493), the UK (127,953), Italy (124,497), Russia (114,619) and France (108,201).
