A high-level All-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India, headed by veteran BJP Parliamentarian Ravi Shankar Prasad, concluded its official tour of Germany, where it gained strong support for India's strong stand against terrorism.
The visit of the delegation, conducted between June 5 and June 7, was intended to enhance bilateral ties and convey India's strong stand on terrorism, particularly in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
At interactions with top government officials of Germany, members of the German parliament, and influential think tanks, the delegation reasserted India's underlying policy of "Zero Tolerance against Terrorism." In addition, they gave complete details regarding India's cautious and targeted military action called 'Operation Sindoor.'
The delegation emphasized India's actions being accurate, responsible, and carefully measured to safeguard national interests without inviting increased escalation. The most important meeting was with Johann Wadephul, Foreign Minister of Germany, who denounced the Pahalgam attack in the strongest terms while affirming India's right to self-defense.
Wadephul also mentioned his recent dialogue with India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar. The Indian parliamentarians also had an interaction with Omid Nouripour, Bundestag Vice President, where they emphasized three pillars of India's counterterrorism strategy: zero tolerance towards terrorism, refusal to nuclear blackmail, and firm commitment to resolving bilateral disputes with Pakistan through peaceful means.
Senior Bundestag figures like Armin Laschet, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, Ralph Brinkhaus, and Hubertus Heil participated in further discussions. They conveyed their sympathy over the victims of the attack in Pahalgam and acknowledged the wider strategic implications of terrorism on regional security and Kashmiri tourism.
In meetings with German foreign policymakers and think tank representatives of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), the Indian delegation stressed that terrorism is an international threat, requiring collective international action.
Addressing a reception by Indian Ambassador Ajit Gupte, the delegation spelled out India's consistent, bipartisan initiatives against terrorism, reaffirmed support for 'Operation Sindoor,' and urged accountability against perpetrators.
The visit was finalized with a reaffirmation of enhancing India-Germany cooperation in defense, security, and counterterrorism, emphasizing the two nations' resolve to deepen their strategic partnership.
