A man who had forcibly entered Hamburg Airport's premises on Saturday has been apprehended, and his young daughter was safely rescued from his vehicle, according to the Hamburg police on Sunday afternoon.
Local law enforcement, in updates shared on social media, disclosed that the man was taken into custody without any resistance, and his 4-year-old daughter emerged unharmed after enduring 18 hours of captivity. The situation took a dangerous turn on Saturday evening when the man, while trespassing onto the airport grounds with his daughter, discharged two gunshots into the sky.
As a result of the ongoing police operations at the airport, all flights to and from Hamburg Airport were canceled, as reported by Xinhua news agency. Hamburg Airport authorities announced on Sunday afternoon that they were actively preparing for a resumption of flight operations. The case is presently under investigation by local authorities.
