Hamburg Airport faced an abrupt closure on Saturday evening when an intruder breached security, discharging two gunshots into the air, according to local police. The Hamburg Police suspected a potential hostage situation, heightening concerns.
According to a spokesperson from the Hamburg police, a man forcefully entered the airport premises around 8 p.m. local time by ramming a gate with his vehicle and proceeded to the airport apron. This alarming situation took an even more distressing turn when it was revealed that at least one child was in the man's vehicle, as per the Xinhua news agency.
The airport swiftly responded to the escalating threat by suspending all incoming and outgoing flights on that fateful Saturday evening, prioritizing safety and the swift resolution of the distressing incident.
