Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th US president on January 20. The ceremony is expected to involve influential people in business, technology, and international politics.
According to NBC News, those attending the inauguration include Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, who will all be seated. Musk will serve as co-lead of President Donald Trump's commission on government spending and bureaucracy that will lead Trump's department of government efficiency.
Foreign leaders are also invited. India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be India's representative. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said she would like to attend "if her schedule permits." China's President Xi Jinping will be represented by an envoy. Argentina's President Javier Milei confirmed attendance. Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban and former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro received invitations and haven't responded.
Former US presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton will attend with their spouses, except for Michelle Obama. Biden dismissed concerns about his attendance as "childish games."
Earlier NBC News claimed that Obama and Clinton have received and declined the invitation, while Bush's office indicated no invitation was received. Hillary Clinton also declined the invitation.
Trump Inauguration to Feature Underwood, Village People, and Greenwood
The lineup for Donald Trump's second presidential inauguration on January 20, 2025, includes Carrie Underwood, the Village People, and Lee Greenwood. The ceremony will officially begin Trump's second term as the 47th president of the United States.
Underwood, a Grammy-winning country music artist, will sing "America the Beautiful." She will be accompanied by the United States Naval Academy Glee Club and Armed Forces Choir.
The Village People, whose 1970s hit "YMCA" will also be there. Band frontman Victor Willis said, "Our song YMCA is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost. Therefore, we think it's time to use music to unite the nation.
Lee Greenwood will sing his patriotic anthem, "God Bless the U.S.A." It is a staple song at Trump rallies.
Opera singer Christopher Macchio will also appear.
The swearing in will take place in Washington, D.C.
