Fox News Decision Desk declares Trump has won presidency

The network gave the Republican 277 electoral college votes to 226 for Democrat Kamala Harris, with 35 results to come.

The Fox News declared Donald Trump the winner of the US presidential election just after 1:45 A.M. on Wednesday based on its analyses of the results pouring in.

In the 538 electoral college that will formally elect him, 270 are required to win the presidency.

NBC said he is winning the race, though it did not make an official declaration.

It said he had reached 266 seats in the electoral college and was likely to pick up at least four more in states where he is leaving.

The announcement came after it and other media declared that he had won Pennsylvania, the crucial swing state needed to win.

The other networks are yet to declare a winner for the bitterly-contested election although The New York Times has estimated that Trump will take 306 seats while Harris will take 232.

According to the estimates by the Times, they are based on analysis which had its basis on live poll data and demographic and historical information.

Trump is said to speak to supporters who would celebrate his victory at the campaign headquarters in Palm Beach, Florida where a jubilant crowd was already waiting.

In the meantime, the venue for Vice President Kamala Harris's victory party was closed at 1:30 A.M. and the Harris campaign released a statement claiming she was home.
